Today’s Workout: 45 minute elliptical, youtube barre video, stretching
I started off the day in good spirits this morning because again I have NO classes today. So naturally when I woke up there was sunshine, rainbows, fairies and a flock of bluebirds chirping outside my window.
Well actually since I’m not a Disney princess we all know that’s not true, but at least there was sunshine. Win! For me this week is really the calm before the storm since next week is my dreaded finals. Boo. Trying to run again AND finals. That’s one intense week.
When Karl left for work this morning I decided to pry myself from my bed or I’d just lay in it all day and watch 10 episodes of Say Yes to the Dress in a row. I’ve done it before, I can do it again. By the way, does anyone else ever notice how the bed always seem more comfortable in the morning?!. So annoying. So as a treat for getting up, I made myself herbal tea from David’s Tea shop, which I went to Wednesday. I had one of their green teas with honey and it was as good as I remember it. I also made yogurt/granola for breakfast.
This is what I put in my yogurt:
1 cup Fage Total 0% Plain Greek Yogurt
Trader Joe’s Nut and Berry Mix
Bear Naked peak flax oats and honey granola
Walnuts from my giant Costco bag
1 tsp of honey
1-1.5 tbsp of ground flaxseed
As you can tell, its very filling and can practically hold me over until dinner if I needed it to. I also had one egg and a piece of toast with TJs light butter and Bonne Maman blackberry preserves. Whoever said Wheaties was the breakfast of champions was wrong. This is!
After breakfast I wanted to make sure I had enough time to get in a good workout since I’m babysitting again tonight (I sat yesterday too. Hanging out with kids is fun, especially since you can eat what they eat. Pizza!). I headed to the gym right away for a super fun elliptical session. Did you detect sarcasm? You would be right. Since the elliptical can be boring, I decided to spruce up my injured-runner workouts by adding a new routine.
I found this video with exercises from a Barre and Burn class brought to you by Sarah@ SarahFit. This was my first exposure to Barre, but I enjoyed it and these are the types of exercises I need right now. Besides, its something different! This video targets mostly the lower body, which I guess is sort of the point of Barre isn’t it? They are short series of moves, which is good when you need a quick lower body workout. Added with a few other exercises, this is great. I really felt it in my muscles! Feel the burn!
Plus there’s a funny part around the 2 min mark where a man with a dog is giving the girls weird looks. I mean they are working out on a park bench, I’d look at them funny too. Keep an eye out for it, it made me laugh.

I edited some of my top links and moved things around for easier viewing and organization. Also I included an updated “My Story” with info about my recent weight loss. It was something I was a little reluctant to write about at first, but feel like is important to share.
